HELP! My rabbit is not eating!! What should I do!!?

answers 0:I have a 2 or 3 year old Holland Lop mix rabbit. He is a male and lives in a rabbit hutch in the shed. When I gave him dinner Wed night which was rabbit pellets he didn't eat it. He also didn't eat his breakfeast this morning (Tues morning) which was a big carrot. And tonight (Tues night) I didn't give him dinner because he still has not eaten his food. He always eats his food and now he's not. But I have been giving him extra food. Is he not hungry? He's acting fine and his teeth don't look too long. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!?I don't want to spend a ton of money at the vets office but I will take him to the vet if I know for a fact something is really wrong....Show moreanswers 1:Your rabbit can die if it is not treated right away. Believe me, I caught mine right away and she still nearly died and will forever be syringe fed..PLEASE get her vet care ASAP!!! !!answers 2:If your rabbit stops eating, it's often an emergency. Did you switch foods on him? Some rabbits are picky. They do have a sensitive digestive system, so new foods have to be introduced slowly. Rabbits don't show that they're ill, so as not to alert predators. If he's being listless then that's not a good sign either. Best to take him to a vet for a check-up. As a side note, I'd be worried that he's lonely in the hutch by himself. Rabbits are social and should be with another rabbit, or get human attention. If you neuter him, he could make a lovely house rabbit. Rabbits can be litter-box trained. They should also get a couple of hours exercise daily....answers 3:If you have some hay, do feed him some . Also, rabbits eat and do their business constantly, so if he isn 't doing what he does normally, it could be that there is a problem . I highly recommend you take him to the vet just in case though ! If there 's no other option, get a syringe and put a few drops of! water on some pellets . Mash it up real good until it can go ! through the syringe . Slowly feed this to your rabbit by the opening on the sides of his mouth . I did this for my rabbit for a few weeks, and he was eating normal again ! I hope your baby is okay !hope i helped ! good luck : )...answers 4:He's got a belly ache that could be fatal. The carrot alerted me right away. You should keep him away from food for just a few hours, but plenty of water is needed. Don't give him any fresh food!answers 5:HiJust try and leave your rabbit alone for a couple of days, if your rabbit is still not eating then there has got to be something wrong. If your rabbit seems to be pooping a lot, not drinking not eating, seems to be shaking in any way, has a wet nose then those are symptoms of illnesses, if none of those has happened to your rabbit, it could be just he is going on a diet!!Good luckx...answers 6:Just Try to leave him/her alone for a whileanswers 7:Hi there.Rabbits occasionally go through a bored phase of not eating for a couple of days -! it's nothing to panic about. If he doesn't eat OR drink for over 8 days, contact your local vet clinic.I hope I helped....answers 8:He needs to see a vet. Once rabbits stop eating the longer it goes on for the harder to get them going again. It could be a dental problem. The teeth you can see may look alright but they have a very narrow mouth and without the right equipmenet which a vet has you can't see most of his a rabbits teeth so it could be his back teeth are over grown. Get him an emergency appointment i don't know what time it is there but if your vets are still open call now or if not call first thing tomorrow when they open and an appointment. You also when he starts eating feedig him when he start eating plenty of hay and fresh veg i have attacted two sites of fresh food that is safe for them to eat. Pellets are an important part of a rabbits diet but the main should be hay and fresh veg.But do get him an appointment with your vet. http://www.adoptarabbit.com/! articles/packet/abcveg... http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html...ans! wers 9:I hope you don't feed your rabbit a whole carrot every morning! Too much sugar is very bad for them. A one inch piece every so often is more than enough for them - think of it as a treat! He could easily have a blockage if you aren't feeding him hay every day, they need some dark greens like kale or romaine lettuce (not iceburg). Do your homework and get him to a vet ASAP. Rabbit digestion is tricky and they can die very quickly from anything that disturbs it.Do your research on how to feed a rabbit! www.rabbit.org...
