Veta Slicker: I suggest that you go to the DMV and discuss your options. Some states, (Texas), allow one to obtain a title for "Abandoned" cars.An ad must be placed in the newspaper to locate the owner, I think 30 days. If no one claims the car a title is issued.
Antwan Schrum: If the title isn't in your name, it legally **isn't your car**. You have to get the title in your name to sell it.
Irma Poiter: You absolutely CAN NOT sell a car without a title. If your name is not on the title, you can not even sell the car since legally it is not yours. You need to go to the Dept of Motor Vehicles, or your license branch and explain the details of the ownership to them. They should be able to tell you what to do to get the title transfered into your name. However, if there is a lein (an open loan) against the car, the title will got to the leinholder. You cannot sell the car without paying off the loan.Anyone that would buy a car without a title for it is asking ! to lose their money!...Show more
Toney Flaten: Yes, you can negotiate and make a deal within your family. Here in Gerogia, you get to marry your cousin and our subdivision and neighbors are all our relatives. I would be careful tho if outsider gets involved, it can spread bad immune like a disease.
