Is UC Davis a good UC for performing arts?

answers1: I'd think UCLA
answers2: Are you going for theatre or film? :) UCLA is going to give
a lot of film opportunities (not all, of course, but LA is the hub
for film) <br>
I'd say for acting on stage it would go UCSanFran, UCDavis, UCLA,
UCBerkeley but that's based off of what I've heard and know about the
cities and their opportunities :) I go to a small university (Western
Oregon U) and it's served me well, despite being in a small town. The
attention given is very one on one, so it has its advantages,
regardless of the city and the area. I don't know if you're looking
for somewhere to go but if you are, find people who have gone there
and compare.

Christian Performing Arts Schools?

answers1: I see others have provided the Scripture. I believe there
will be a rapture but when and where and how many I don't know. I
can't figure out if it'll be all the Christians, or all those with a
pure heart or those who are really close to God. I also don't know,
when it comes to end time stuff, whether the rapture is supposed to
come before or during the Tribulation. Some people believe there will
be more than 1 rapture, so that if you miss one you will have time to
get your life right with God and go up in the next one. I don't
personally think it matters. So long as your heart is right and you
are living for God then you are going to heaven whether you are
raptured or not. So yeah, I believe in the rapture but I wouldn't be
disappointed if I was wrong.
answers2: I went to Olivet Nazarene University near Chicago...and
though it is NOT a Performing Arts school, it has students right now
that are in operas in Chicago. It was a good school to gain experience
and obtain a good education.
answers3: If you widen your scope to more than Christian schools,
you're more likely to find more. Some of the musicians I know aren't
Christian, and I'm not really anything. Doesn't change anything. <br>
<br>
Besides, it doesn't really matter. Choirs and orchestras perform
sacred music often.

How can I become better in performing arts?

answers1: Modeling isn't really an art. <br>
<br>
When it comes to acting, you should take drama classes. People
mistakenly think that acting is only a natural talent but it can
actually be developed and lessons are very useful. Even if you are a
talented actress, you are wasting your talent if you don't want to get
any lessons. <br>
<br>
Same goes for singing but it's a bit more complicated. You have to
have singing lessons with a good teacher because self-training is
risky and can cause voice damage (like vocal nodules). Severe voice
damage needs a surgery and sometimes you can't fix it. Don't risk
losing your voice. Proper singing lessons last for years and singing
isn't simple. Apart from breath control and voice support, even things
like how you place your tongue, where you concentrate the tone and how
open your mouth is are very important. Professional singers never stop
their singing lessons, they always have a vocal coach to help them. If
you really have an "ugly accent", you need to work on your diction.
Having singing lessons is the best option for you.

I've always accepted this whitewashing of discrepancies in Jesus' genealogies?

answers1: You can find various spectacular displays of semantic and
logical gymnastics which attempt explain this, e.g. <a
href="http://www.carm.org/bible-difficulties/matthew-mark/why-are-there-different-genealogies-jesus-matthew-1-and-luke-3"

or <a href="http://www.bringyou.to/apologetics/bible.htm#65,"

but it still seems odd that Joseph's ancestors reproduced 40% faster
than Mary's.
answers2: "[T]he Jews had no word to express th[e] concept [of
son-in-law] and so just used 'son'—e.g., 1 Samuel 24:16; 26:17...."
answers3: Coz the translators are really sleepy when they did that.
Besides, I'm sure that they have a family to go home to. I'd rather go
home and meet my wife than fussing over every single detail in a book
that people barely read anyway.

What does genealogy mean in regards to the bible?

answers1: Because in those times women were considered to be the head
of the Household so it would be their name that would normally pass on
from generation to generation. <br>
<br>
In terms of the Genealogy it depends on which one. The one in Genesis
is making a largely literary point(which is found in other Ancient
mythical texts of the time) of the wisdom and reverence of the
Ancients, which is why for many of them old age is highly emphasized.
<br>
<br>
In terms of the one in the Gospels, it is a theological point being
made by linking Jesus to Adam because they are saying Jesus succeeded
where Adam failed, namely living the perfect life without sin. That is
why he is called the New Adam and why we must follow his example in
order to be reconciled to God
answers2: Actually Biblical society was patriarchal -- meaning the men
were the ones who held authority in nearly all matters. Because that
was the pattern that God gave to Moses in the first five books of the
Bible -- and it was called a perfect system, because God is the One
who designed it. The Bible is not man's revelation of God -- it is
God's revelation of Himself to man (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21).
But 'genealogy' is the family lineage -- and in the Bible it serves
the purpose of letting us know through whom God's oracles were
delivered from the first man, Adam, down through the centuries -- and
also the lineage of the Saviour, as He was promised and prophesied to
come from Abraham's line. This is of vital importance, as Jesus tells
us that salvation is of the Jews (John 4:22) -- meaning that God's
true message was entrusted to the Jews and no other race on the face
of the earth.
answers3: Genealogies help substantiate the Bible's historical
accuracy. These lists confirm the physical existence of the characters
in the Bible. By knowing family histories, we understand that the
Bible is far from a mere story or a parable for how we should live our
lives. It is authentic, historical truth. An actual man named Adam had
actual descendants (and, therefore, his actual sin has actual
consequences). <br>
<br>
The lists also demonstrate the detail-oriented nature of God and His
interest in individuals. God did not see Israel vaguely, as a nebulous
group of people; He saw with specificity, with precision and detail.
There is nothing detached about the genealogies. They show God is
involved. The inspired Word mentions people by name. Real people, with
real histories and real futures. God cares about each person and the
details of his or her life (Matthew 10:27-31; Psalm 139). <br>
<br>
♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ <br>
<br>
It is no secret that in the time with which the Bible was written (a
span of about 1,500 years), women were looked at as inferior to men.
Non-religious records tell us that women not only lacked political
rights, but they also lacked credibility in the public domain.
Throughout the Old Testament there are many instances where women play
an important part in God's plan as seen through the lens of male
writers. For example, Miriam, the prophetess, focused her ministry on
the women of Israel (Exodus 15:20). Deborah, another prophetess,
became a national judge of Israel (like Samuel) for a tenor (Judges
4:4; 5:7). Huldah, another prophetess, was consulted by Josiah's chief
men for her opinion (2 Kings 22:14-20). Jael, a noted woman of
respect, was a living indictment to the weakness of Barak and other
men in Israel (Judges 4:9); and it was Abigail (1 Samuel 25), who,
persuaded David not to kill Nabal. <br>
<br>
The Gospels as a whole, present Jesus as a revolutionary. Jesus not
only thought of women as being equal in rank with men as daughters of
Abraham (Luke 13: 10-17), but, He openly ministered to them as
"children of wisdom" (Luke 7:35-50) who deserve respect (Matthew
5:28). Jesus even went so far as to ignore all strictures of impurity
prevalent at that time in order to heal a woman who had been
hemorrhaging for twelve years (Mark 5:25). Some women, who were
healed, even became apart of His inner circle of disciples (Luke
8:1-3). Unsurprisingly, in Jesus' final hours, it was to the
"daughters of Jerusalem" (Luke 23:27-28) that He turned and spoke to
while making his way to the place called Golgotha (Latin: Calvarius).
While there are certainly other positive examples that could be
brought to light, what can be gleaned from this overview, is, Jesus'
sensitivity toward women in era of insensitivity.
answers4: try looking up the word genealogy in the dictionary then you
might have some idea what you're talking about.

What can a modern day genealogy test actually decipher?

answers1: DNA testing reveals ancient ancestral genetic background,
not what is consider modern coding. <br>
DNA is more that a test to reveal that your ancestor were Irish, in
fact it is doubtful that the results would show "Irish" as that is a
relative new country. You might want to carefully read what DNA
testing can and cannot provide at the present time before you spend
the money, so you will not be disappointed in the results. <br>
<br>
Also Genetics is not the same a Genealogy. Genealogy is the study and
documentation of a specific ancestral lineage within a specific
family.
answers2: I admire Velvet Revolver since they have the great guitarist
minimize and nonetheless the entire GNR crue besides of direction
Axle. At first I was once a bit skeptical that Scott Wielder from STP
would be a just right lead for them, but after observing them preform
live twice they most likely rock. My favourite band earlier than they
broke up was Smashing Pumpkins most often for the same motive you like
Pearl Jam
answers3: What exactly are you trying to find out? Shirley has given
you a good overview of the types of tests available. If you are mostly
looking to get a fairly accurate idea of all your ancient ancestors,
and nothing more, your best choice is The Genographic Project by
National Geographic Geno 2.0 <br>
<a href="https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>https://genographic.nationalgeographic.c...</a>
<br>
<br>
Understand that the ethnic breakdown analysis is a very new science
and more is being learned all the time. Do not take the results too
seriously. <br>
<br>
If you might want additional more recent genealogy information, three
of the most respected genealogy DNA testing companies are FamilyTree
DNA, 23 and Me and Ancestry. Each has strengths and weaknesses. <br>
<br>
FamilyTree DNA has a large database and most of their subscribers are
interested in genealogy and have some degree of a family tree. Their
Family Finder test is by far the most expensive. <br>
<br>
23andMe has the lowest cost and the largest database, but less than
half their subscribers are interested in genealogy. They test for
potential health issues as well as autosomal DNA. They are widely
considered to have the best ethnic breakdown of the big three. <br>
<br>
Ancestry DNA is the new kid on the block in autosomal DNA testing, and
their database is growing rapidly, BUT they are only selling kits in
the US at this time. Their ethnic breakdown is considered the least
accurate. <br>

ADD For more current up-to-date genetic genealogy information I suggest <br>
Trace Your Roots with DNA by Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak & Ann Turner <br>
DNA and Social Networking: A Guide to Genealogy in the 21st Century by
Debbie Kennett
answers4: First, do some reading. Since you seem to think that an
Irishman has always been an Irishman, start by reading the history of
Ireland. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Ireland"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_...</a>
<br>
<br>
Then read some books about genetic genealogy, such as: <br>
"Mapping Human History: Discovering the Past Through Our Genes" by
Steve Olson <br>
"The Seven Daughters of Eve" by Bryan Sykes <br>
"The Blood of the Isles" by Bryan Sykes <br>
<br>
Remember that DNA tests work only in a straight lline: mtDNA goes
mother to mother to mother, back to Eve; yDNA goes father to father to
father, back to Adam. <br>
<br>
Go for the test: you will find that you have Welsh, English, Scottish,
Danish, French, etc. ancestry.
answers5: There are 4 types of DNA, Y, X, Mitochondrial and Autosomal. <br>
<br>
Y & X are sex chromosomes. The Y is passed from father to son. About
1 out of 6 females will get a Y from their father. The reason they
are the female phenotype is they are totally insensitive to
testosterone. So although they have the male sex chromosomes. in
their hormones they are totally estrogen. I read recently that they
will frequently be softer, larger through the breast than xx females.
<br>
They are born without ovaries but about 11% of them will have a
uterus. I read on the genetics section of Stanford University that
one gave birth by having an egg inserted in her uterus. In times past
most did not know they had the male chromosome until they went through
puberty. <br>
<br>
Both males and females get an X from their mother but in addition
about 5 out of 6 females get a X from their father. The X has been
considered untraceable but it is being used in the Geno 2,0 testing
along with Autosomal by National Geographic. <br>
<br>
Mitochondrial is in the cytoplasm outside your cells. Mitochondrial
is passed from mother to both sons and daughters but only the
daughters pass it to the next generation. Mitochondrial should not be
confused with the X. <br>
<br>
Autosomal is what most of your DNA is. I read on a website once that
you don't get it 50-50 from both parents. However information from a
molecular biologist on the Biology Board said the website is wrong.
You do get it 50-50 from both parents but not necessarily 25% from
each of your 4 grandparents. The reason what you inherited can be
biased between grandmother and grandfather on both sides of the
family. When your parents passed on their Autosomal they received
from their parents to you it was randomly jumbled and went through a
process of recombination. Any bias you inherited will not be the same
for your siblings. Your Autosomal will probably be similar but
sometimes it can be very different. <br>
<br>
Now since the late 70s people have used Y & Mitochondrial for
genealogy purposes. It comes down in a straight line unchanged
barring mutations. So if you run into someone you feel like are in
your direct male or female line and you both are tested then you are
in a position to share genealogical information. With both they will
assign you to a Haplogroup and can show you the origin of nomadic
ancestors going way back. However neither are good to give you an
overall view of your ancestry as you get each from only one person in
each generation you go back. If you are able to have both tested by
the time you got back to your 16 great great grandparents, 14 of them
will be excluded from the results. <br>
<br>
Autosomal is used in the overall ancestral testing. There are no
Haplogroups with Autosomal. It is not as exacting as Y &
Mitochondrial. Pretty much the only thing companies can do is match
you with population samples in their database. So since they don't
all have the same database and some might be deficient in some
population samples or not have certain population samples another has
and vice versa it has been reported that if your Autosomal is tested
by different companies you will get different results. This type of
testing has been over hyped on TV. Anytime they give you a pie chart
or just a percentage breakdown of various European ancestries be a
little skeptical. One thing there is no such thing as racial,
national, ethnicity, ancestral purity. Countries have invaded others.
Boundaries have been changed. New nations brought into existence.
<br>
<br>
There are several companies doing this type of testing. FamilyTreeDNA,
23andme, Ancestry.Com and DNATribes. For FamilyTreeDNA the $289
Family Finder Test is the Autosomal test and they can also match you
with cousins in their database going back 5 generations on all sides
of your family. The catch is you have to have cousins that have had
their DNA tested by them. Ancestry.Com can do the same with your
cousins on all sides but you have to had cousins that have been tested
through Ancestry.Com. 23andme will also use your Autosomal for genetic
illnesses. <br>
<br>
DNATribes will not attempt to give you a breakdown but will give you
your top 20 matches in descending order, including specific countries.
They will you additional matches for an additional fee.They are not
saying you have ancestors from all those countries put match
population groups to some extent. They onlly do Autosomal. <br>
<br>
Don't take any tests without asking as many questions in advance that
you have. Actually for FamilyTreeDNA and DNATribes if you go under
Feedback at the top there is a way you can email them and ask
questions. I have found them both to be very prompt at replying.
<br>
DNA testing in isolation of traditional genealogy I don't believe is
really all that helpful.
answers6: I am in the UK and DNA genealogy research is not so popular
here as in the US for that very reason. Most people know where there
ancestors came from, while in the US a lot of people get family
stories and legends about their origins that need to be checked out
scientifically. <br>
<br>
The best bet is to trace as much of your ancestry as you can and then
see if any kind of DNA research can help. Remember that Ireland had a
lot of settlers from England at the time of the Plantation Acts and
they may have had ancestors from other places in Europe. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_for_the_Settlement_of_Ireland_1652"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_for_the...</a>
<br>
Although this was for the English upper classes to take over Irish
estates, they would have taken other English servants and assistants
with them, and this would have led to a large influx of poorer English
families who intermarried with the Irish..

Would you please tell how I get my genealogy off the church site?

answers1: Why? Is she asking what your pedigree is?
answers2: Your genealogy on the normal familysearch.org is not
available. For privacy purposes only the records of your
great-grandparents or even great-great grandparents and older can be
revealed. However, since you're a member you can register at
new.familysearch.org. Because it confirms that you are who you say you
are and that you're a member of the Church, it can show you your
entire genealogy. But you'll need your record number and confirmation
date, which you should be able to obtain either from your parents or
your bishop if you don't have it handy.
answers3: check the book of nephi ..maybe :)

A free genealogy site?

answers1: there you go <br>
<br>
p.s i didnt read it
answers2: There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. I have links to
some huge ones, below, but you'll have to wade through some advice and
warnings first. <br>
<br>
If you didn't mention a country, we can't tell if you are in the USA,
UK, Canada or Australia. I'm in the USA and my links are for it. <br>
<br>
If you are in the USA, <br>
AND most of your ancestors were in the USA, <br>
AND you can get to a library or FHC with census access, <br>
AND you are white <br>
Then you can get most of your ancestors who were alive in 1850 with
100 - 300 hours of research. You can only get to 1870 if you are
black, sadly. Many young people stop reading here and pick another
hobby. <br>
<br>
No web site is going to tell you how your great grandparents decorated
the Christmas tree with ornaments cut from tin foil during the
depression, how Great Uncle Elmer wooed his wife with a banjo, or how
Uncle John paid his way through college in the 1960's by smuggling
herbs. Talk to your living relatives before it is too late. <br>
<br>
You won't find living people on genealogy sites. You'll have to get
back to people living in 1930 or so by talking to relatives, looking
up obituaries and so forth. <br>
<br>
Finally, not everything you read on the internet is true. You have to
be cautious and look at people's sources. Cross-check and verify.
<br>
<br>
So much for the warnings. Here is the main link. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html</a>
<br>
<br>
That page has links, plus tips and hints on how to use the sites, for
a dozen huge free sites. Having one link here in the answer and a
dozen links on my personal site gets around two problems. First, Y!A
limits us to 10 links in an answer. Second, if one or more of the
links are popular, I get "We're taking a breather" when I try to post
the answer. This is a bug introduced sometime in August 2008 with the
"new look". <br>
<br>
You will need the tips. Just for instance, most beginners either put
too much data into the RWWC query page, or they mistake the Ancestry
ads at the top for the query form. I used to teach a class on Internet
Genealogy at the library. I watched the mistakes beginners made. The
query forms on the sites are NOT intuitive.
answers3: All of them are free all the time...If you can use the
website at your local public library, Mormon Family sites, etc. But,
here is my short list: <br>
You should start by asking all your living relatives about family
history. Then, armed with that information, you can go to your public
library and check to see if it has a genealogy department. Most do
nowadays; also, don't forget to check at community colleges,
universities, etc. Our public library has both www.ancestry.com and
www.heritagequest.com free for anyone to use (no library card
required). <br>
Another place to check out is any of the Mormon's Family History
Centers. They allow people to search for their family history (and,
NO, they don't try to convert you). <br>

Then there is the DNA test; if you decide you want to REALLY know
where your ancestors came from opt for the DNA test. Besides all the
mistakes that officials commonly make, from 10% to 20% of birth
certificates list the father wrong; that is, mama was doing the
hanky-panky and someone else was the REAL father. That won't show up
on the internet or in books; it WILL show up in DNA. <br>

Cost of author visits?

answers1: Hard to answer. Some authors will negotiate school visit
fees. There are many grants and subsidies at the state level. I'd
estimate several 100 to several thousand dollars, but I've had local
authors come to my library for $100, less if they can sell their
books.
answers2: It REALLY depends on the author. I've seen some best-selling
authors who say they do it for free and some authors like John Scalzi
who probably charge an arm and a leg. :D You might also have to
include their travel expenses (hotel say, gas, food, etc). <br>
<br>
ADDING: Here's what Neil Gaiman charges for appearances. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/may/05/neil-gaiman-us-politician-theft-accusation"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/may...</a>
<br>
<br>
I know the Toni Morrison recently got paid $30,000 for a speaking
appearance at a university (I think it was a commencement speech).
answers3: If they're already in your town/city, they may do it for
free. (You should buy them lunch at a nice place, and/or give them a
nice gift). If you're not looking for a famous person, you could try
a locally popular newspaper writer. <br>
<br>
If they're from out of town, you'll need to pay their fee (arrange
through their publisher). plus transportation, put them up somewhere,
buy meals, etc.

author question for mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme?

answers1: Your asking yourself you answer it... <br>
<br>
jk <br>
<br>
matters how good your books are...
answers2: Depends on the author really. The author of "Harry Potter"
would get a LOT more money than the author of "Chocolate Recipes." But
authors are usually quite poor - except if they wrote a best-selling
book, which pretty much means that they suck at writing.
answers3: depends on weather your books are popular and picked up by a
good publisher <br>
<br>
otherwise prolly not millions
answers4: it really depends on the genre and if its good or not <br>
<br>
<br>
but don't hope millions
answers5: The average author in the UK makes about 25% of the national
average wage. Don't give up the day job :)
answers6: Depends on the book, but unless you make it really big and u
get famous, about 5,000-10,00 dollars a year.
answers7: Probably nothing. Many people nowadays have to pay to
publish their own books and take the risk themselves. If it's good,
and you can somehow get it promoted, maybe you'll make your money
back. Only a few authors get rich.
answers8: Over 90% of authors will only make a few thousand dollars a
year. JK Rawling and a few others are much better paid.

how much do authors make?

answers1: That would depend on the kind of deal or contract they made
when they published the book. Most authors usually get some kind of
percentage of every book they sell, so the more they sell, the more
they make. If a book sells for $10 and the author gets $1 for each
copy sold, then if a million copies sell, the author just made a
million dollars. Of course that is a very simple example and the
actual percentages are probably a lot different, but most really good
authors are very well off.
answers2: I did not actually write this, but it is helpful information. <br>
<br>
Technically speaking, authors are only payed a percentage of the
profits of the book when it's sold. This is why the money an author
receives prior to publication is called an "advance." It is a flat
amount that the publishing house gives to the author no matter how
well or how poorly the book sells. (It's usually in installments--a
bit on signing the contract, on turning in a draft that is accepted by
the editors as ready to go into the copy editing process, and a chunk
on publication.) <br>
<br>
An author-publisher contract will outline what percentage of the book
price belongs to the author. For authors just starting out the
percentage begins around 10% of each book sold, but can begin at up to
25% or more for more bankable proven authors. I say "begins" because
this percentage is often on a sliding scale. The percentage of the
book price an author receives usually increases with the numbers of
books sold. <br>
<br>
For example, an author may receive 7% of the sales from 1 to 10,000
books, 15% from 10,000 to 30,000 books sold, and 25% on books sold
from 30,000 copies and beyond. <br>
<br>
So, an advance is really just a bit of the projected profits that the
publishing house is willing to pay upfront, a bit that they cannot
take back no matter how few books are sold. That said, future payments
or "royalties" are only payed to the author when the publishing house
has recovered that advance. They calculate the author's percentage of
every book sold and apply that bit to the amount they've already paid
out. <br>
<br>
For first time authors, the publishing house will often make the first
print run of the book a "break even print" this means that if all the
books printed sell, the author's advance will be recovered by the
publishing house, but royalties for the author above that amount will
be impossible unless the book goes into another print run. <br>
<br>
To make this a little less confusing, I'll outline the math with an
example... <br>
<br>
- The author gets word from her agent that the publishing house wants
to give her a $33,000 advance! (Woo hoo!) <br>
- She signs an author-publisher contract with the following parameters: <br>
7% on books 1-10,000 <br>
15% on books 10,000-30,000 <br>
25% on books 30,000 and beyond <br>
- The publishing house pays the author $15,000 of her advance on
signing the contract. <br>
- The publishing house pays her $10,000 of her advance when she hands
in a manuscript that the editors are happy with. <br>
- The publishing house decides to print 20,000 copies of a book that
will cost $15.00. <br>
- The publishing house pays her $8,000 when the book hits bookstores. <br>
- The book "sells through," meaning it sells out of all printed
copies. But the publishing house decides not to print any more. <br>
- The book has sold 20,000 copies. The author's percentage would be
$10,500 for the first 10,000 books, and $22,500 on the second 10,000
books. That means that the publishing house has recouped their $33,000
advance to the author, and banked $267,000 (less production costs).
<br>
<br>
Now, a word on agents. Our intrepid author would never have made
contact with the publishing house if it hadn't been for her agent. Her
agent receives 15% of everything the author receives (some more
established authors negotiate an agent percentage closer to 5 to 7%).
In fact, the publishing house sends the money to the agent. The agent
takes his percentage and then sends a check to the author. <br>
<br>
Meaning, when all is said and done the author actually receives
$28,050 before taxes. <br>
<br>
I know all this because I am a published author, with several agents,
publishers--and books sold. Hope it helps!
answers3: JK Rowling is richer than the Queen (for real!) but she is
absolutely the exception and most authors will never make enough to
live on, even if they are lucky enough to be published. <br>
<br>
From personal experience, I know one children's author who has sold
10,000 books but has still not received any more than the £4000
advance she was paid. <br>
<br>
On the other hand, my first book has attracted quite high advances
from about eight countries so far, meaning that by the time it is
published next year, I will have been paid about £250,000 without a
copy being sold. But of course, it will have to sell an awful lot of
copies for me to start getting paid any more than that! And taxes and
agency fees have to be paid from that too.
answers4: Depending on how big a hit the book is, i believe.
answers5: Anything less than 10-million. <br>
(I asked this question before, using Stephenie Meyer as the sample-subject.)

answers11: Romance book: Ella Enchanted. Seriously, do not be fooled
by that horrible movie that came out. The book is lovely, it's a
cinderella story, but it's probably my favorite out of the fifty-two
million cinderella stories out there <br>
<br>
Other book: One of my favorite books of all time is called 'The family
that nobody wanted' which is about this couple named Doss who cannot
have any children... and end up with 12! (This was a time in America
where no one wanted to adopt children of mixed ancestry, like half
chinese and half filipino) It's an old book, but it's absolutely
adorable.

Is it illegal to resell books? For example, buy books from colleges or teachers and resell them.?

answers1: No, it's not illegal. There are many websites and stores
where you can do this.
answers2: I have seen students selling books to each other. Have seen
books for sale from students on the bulletin board so not it is not
illegal. The only problem I see is that many of the books become
outdated and new verisons are updated and issued. Some colleges just
stop using a particular book.*
answers3: No. There is no law that actually exists that you broken by
reselling a book you bought legally from College, or a Teacher you
knew who sold it to you. I believe people/students sell their used
books via the Ebay site all the time. Just don't copy anything
somebody else wrote and not give the person credit for it, I beleive
that' iss copyright enfringment violation. You have to give them
credit by way of footnotes, or quotation in your written text.
answers4: It's perfectly legal. Why wouldn't it be? <br>
<br>
You can sell almost anything used when you're done with it.
answers5: It is not illegal at all. In fact many college bookstores
have buy back programs where they give you money back for your books.
The only downside to this is that the college bookstores often don't
give you much for the books. You should try http://www.bigwords.com.
They have always given me the most money back for last semester's
books.

Is a book fair cheaper than a book store?

answers1: Books are FREE in England :D
answers2: Not sure how the book fairs work in your school, but in
ours, there is no tax added on (since it's a fund raiser) which makes
the book a bit cheaper. There were several titles at our book fair
that I couldn't find at Barnes and Noble in a paperback, so that makes
the book fair a bit cheaper. Overall, though, the prices were the
same as the chain book store.
answers3: its cheapper on a book fair.. they have more kinds of books
and sometimes the editorial is there and they have their books on
sale.
answers4: The Union Church of Manila has a individual library which
you'll be able to become a member of for P200/yr. Their assortment
isn't large, however for that variety of cash, if you'll be able to
borrow say 50 books a yr, that is simply P4 in step with learn. Also,
in Cubao, close the historical Marikina Shoe Expo, there are
historical retail outlets that present used items, moment hand books,

P40+ for hardcover books.
answers5: Sometimes. But they're always cheaper on the last day of the
fair-- no one wants to pack them up and haul them back to where ever
they came from. You'd be surprised what kind of deals you can get.

how to sell college books?

answers1: If you want little to no money back, sell to your campus
bookstore. <br>
Try using the internet, as you can set the price. Sites like
Craigslist seem to work. Usually, colleges have some websites to sell
books. Try Uloop. <br>
<br>
Also ,you can use word of mouth. Tell your friends you're selling your
books, and see if they, or their friends need them.
answers2: You can sell your books back to your college bookstore, but
selling them online but you usually won't get as much money as selling
them online. I recommend checking out this article for finding the
best site to sell your books back:

answers3: Yes, and in fact a school buyback wont give you a penny more
even if the book is still sealed in its wrapping vs a heavily marked
up book. So it doesnt matter how bad the book is -- granted, a book
that is torn or mutilated wont be accepted (I've seen partially burned
books tried to be sold back lol). It is best to sell them through
other avenues. School buybacks give you the worst payout.
answers4: sell them to the college book store.
answers5: usually you can just go to your college book store and sell
them there but if i were you, because most likely there going to give
you less than half of what you paid since its already been used, i'd
post up a bulletin on the college post and sell them there, i bet a
new student would pay what your asking rather than paying more you
know?
